Breaking News!
President Obama went to New Orleans for the first time on Thursday, October 15 to visit a charter school and to attend a meeting. While he was there, he told the people that lived in the city that he is going to help them continue rebuilding because of Hurricane Katrina (even though the event happened more than four years ago.) “We will not forget about New Orleans, and we are not going to forget about the Gulf Coast,” he promised. He plans to build the region stronger than ever before.
But then, a little boy that is currently in 4th Grade asked the president the last question.
“Why do people hate you? And why, aren’t they supposed to love you, if God is love?” Tyren asked.
The crowd applaused and clapped for Tyren as Obama laughed. “First of all, I did get elected president, so not everybody hates me; I got a whole lot of votes,” Obama joked. “A lot of it is what’s called politics, where once one party wins, the other party feels like they’ve got to poke you a little bit to keep you on your toes. So you shouldn’t take it too seriously.”
But then Tyren had another statement:
“But people are worried about their own lives. A lot of people are losing their jobs right now. They’re losing their health care or they lost their homes to foreclosure and they’re feeling frustrated, and when you’re president of the United States, you’ve got to deal with all of it. You get some of the credit when things are going good, but when things are going bad, you get some of the blame.” Obama replied back to Tyren. “But that’s all right,” Obama said, adding, “I’m a pretty tough guy. Are you a tough guy? You look pretty tough. So you’ve just got to keep going on going, even when folks are criticizing you, when you know you’re doing it for other people.”
Below here is going to be the ACTUAL video of Tyren asking Obama the last question. Enjoy!
Happy Early Halloween!
I know, I know – why am I saying Happy Halloween? It’s only three weeks away!
Well, Halloween is coming and that means a lot of candy is going to be handed out. It’s also the time to dress up!
What are you going to be? A hippie? A vampire? A wrestler? Comment below and tell world what you wanna be!
But the question is, how was Halloween started? Well, here’s an article called Halloween Origin that I am going to post below:
“It all began in what is now France and the British Isles. It was started by the Celtic people long ago….
The Celtic people feared the night of October 31. It was the night of their festival of Samhain, Lord of the Dead. The Celtics feared Samhain and in order to please him, the Druids (Celtic priests) held cruel fire rites in his honor. They made huge bonfires every year at this time. The bonfires were usually made of oak and considered sacred.
At this festival, the Druids made sacrifices to the gods. They burned criminals, prisoners, and animals alive. By observing the victims die, the Druids saw omens of the future, both good and bad. The powers to make predictions of the future were thought to be
strongest on this night. Why? It was because the Druids believed that the spirits were allowed to roam free on this night of the year. The Druids believed the spirits were powerful and wild on this night, and if they were treated right, they would help with predictions of the future. However, if the spirits were ignored, they would punish the Celtic community.
The Druids believed that, above powerful and wild, some spirits were evil. This is why the Celtic people wore costumes during the Samhain festival. The purpose of the costumes was to frighten the spirits. Plus, this way, the spirits wouldn’t be able to recognize them.
(This is the origin of costumes.)
To please the spirits, the Celtic people left food outside their houses on Halloween. If any hungry spirits came by, they could take the food and leave the Celtics in peace.
(This is the origin of ‘trick or treat’ing.)”
That’s all for Halloween! I might put up another post of Halloween next week, or maybe in a few weeks. Again, please comment saying what you’re going to be (or what you want to be) for Halloween! Thanks!
Guess What! ![]()
I am insanely in love with the show and books The Vampire Diaries. I first read the first book about two weeks ago, where I had gotten it as a gift from one of my neighbors. Now I am reading the second book – The Vampire Diaries: The Fury and Darkness Returns. I have also discovered the show The Vampire Diaries, which is based on the series. I have watched four episodes so far, so I think I’m almost caught up. I just found out about a week ago, but I didn’t even bother to look it up until yesterday. I would say my favorite character in the show is Stefan Salvatore – the mysterious new guy that just moved to
Mystic Falls. Paul Wesley plays Stefan Salvatore in the show. In the book I would say that my favorite character would either be Elena or Bonnie. Elena is the most popular girl in school – every girl envies, but every boy dreams of having a girl like her. Bonnie is Elena’s best friend, but came from a different backround. Her grandmother and other ancestors are Salem Witches, who immigrated to Mystic Falls.
This book has a lot of suspense, romance, and a bit of horror. I almost love the series as much as Twilight. Come to think of it, I love romantic, suspicious, horrific, dramatic vampire books. The Vampire Diaries are by L.J. Smith, who also wrote The Night World Series and many more. L.J. Smith is now my new favorite author!
Do you like vampire books? If so, what vampire book did you read?

Good Evenaftermorning!
It’s short for evening, afternoon, or morning!
Anyway, today was a busy week for me! When it’s a busy week, the week seems to have passed by swiftly. I feel like today’s Wednesday, but hey, that’s just me.
I was busy mostly because of school. This is what I had to do:
Monday:
Homework
Tuesday:
Homework
Wednesday:
Progress Reports
Homework
Thursday:
Reading Logs
Social Studies Quiz
Current Event
Friday:
Summer Reading Program
Math Test
Language Arts Quiz
Okay, well first of all, I had to do homework on Monday and Tuesday. I didn’t finish my Summer Reading Program yet, so I started panicking, trying to finish homework as quickly as possible. Afterwards, I try to finish up my Summer Reading Program. Then on Wednesday I had homework and my parents had to sign my progress reports. After that I continues finishing the Summer Reading Project, and then I studied for Thursday’s quiz. Then on Thursday I had to hand in a Reading Log, which is where you have to record the date, time, place, and pages you’ve read. All of the time you’ve spent reading needs to add up to at least eight hours or more. Then I had to do a Current Event, which means that you can go on the internet or use the newspaper to print or cut an article about a certain topic (for an example, the Middle East). Then when school ended, I quickly did my homework and studied, and after that I finished my Summer Reading Program right before the day it was due. Today I had a quiz and a test (which was easy) and I handed in the Summer Reading Project. I was really busy this week, and I hate being busy because of school. If it’s something like after school (like a barbecue or I had to go to a party) then I wouldn’t mind/care. So yeah…
Were you busy this week?
Hey Hey Hey,
Paramore (my favorite band) has a new album out! It’s called Brand New Eyes. I don’t know most of the songs besides Ignorance and Brick By Boring Brick. I think Paramore is awesome.
They were the band who wrote Decode that was in the Twilight album. I didn’t like them because of Twilight – I liked them before I had even heard of Twilight. The first Paramore song I heard was That’s What You Get. But anyway, I am going to post Ignorance and Brick By Boring Brick below; enjoy!
Oh by the way…
IMPORTANT: All of the videos that are in my blog aren’t my videos. I’ve gotten them from YouTube.
Happy Belated Birthday…
To me! Haha.
My birthday was last Wednesday, but I didn’t have time to blog about it. I was busy last weekend, and I was busy this week. Finally it’s a Friday! I now have time. ![]()
I had a birthday party on Saturday, and I invited 16 friends. I think 12 or 13 out of the 16 people I invited came at my party. My party took place at my house and at the mall. For my birthday, I did a Mall Scavengar Hunt. What my friends and I had to do was get a sheet that had a story. In the story, it has a hint of the items you’re suppose to find and the store. What you do is figure out the store and the items and ask the cashier for the items. If you asked for the wrong thing, then she’ll say that she won’t have it. If you described it correctly, then she’ll give you the item. Since there were a lot of people, we got into groups of four or five. So at the end, we went around the mall and get the items anyone missed. Then we went back to my house and gave each person one item from the scavenger hunt. After that, we hung out around the house for awhile. We even brought hair spray (like those cans where you can spray the color onto your hair) and everyone put some on their hair. The theme of the house was Hollywood, so we had hats and they sprayed their hats too. Next, we ate pizza. We had cheese, pepperoni, and chicken wings. Then when we were done with eating, we hung out for a few minutes and then we ate cake. My cake was Madagascar 2 (I’m older than 9, by the way) since there weren’t any other good cakes. The Madagascar 2 cake was actually cool – there was a volcano that was made out of frosting.
But anyway, on one half of the cake it was chocolate, and one the other half it was yellow/vanilla. I like yellow/vanilla more than chocolate cake.
But then we stayed around for a few more minutes, and then it was time to open presents. I had many gift cards, money, and books. Some of my favorites was a New Moon Poster, a t-shirt and sweater from Aeropostale, and a mini laptop.
Then when I was done with presents we went into my garage and got into a line. I had bought a pinata that looked like a clapboard (the thing that you use before the camera films when you say, “Action!”). I was up first and I had hit hard. But we could only get three tries, and I couldn’t break the pinata. Then one of my neighbors got to do it, but she also couldn’t break open the pinata. Then the third person walked up to the pinata, getting ready to hit the pinata as HARD AS SHE COULD. We could hear a loud ‘BANG!’ the first time she hit it. The second hit was when she broke the stick. Someone also pulled the pinata down so they broke the hanging part. My dad said for everyone to just rip it. Everyone ran up to the pinata and ripped open the pinata. There were so many trying to rip it open that I could barely see the pinata at all. Then as I spotted the pinata, I grabbed it and dumped the whole thing out – yes, many people were on the ground in my garage getting as much as they could. After that, it was already time to go home. My party was from 11 am – 5 pm.
I thought the party was fun and exciting. I can’t wait until next year…

Hey,
Wow, I haven’t blogged in a while! I was practically busy being lazy over the Summer, haha. But that’s not the topic I am blogging about. The third New Moon official trailer is out!
I have watched it over and over, and I think this trailer is the best one out of the other two. If you want to watch it, no worries! You don’t have to type in YouTube and search for it. I’m gonna post it below this! Enjoy this trailer!
Hej,
That’s hi in Swedish!
In this post, I’m gonna tell and explain to you what A.M. and P.M. stand for.
A.M. and P.M. are used to tell time and are used in clocks, watches, etc. A.M. means Ante Meridian, which is Italian for Before Midday. P.M. means Post Meridian, which means After Midday in (also) Italian. The meridian is where the sun lies if you are on the equator, at 12 noon the sun would be directly overhead so before it gets to that point you are A.M. (Ante Meridian), and after you are P.M. (Post Meridian).
So that was just a fun fact I wanted to post about! Thank you for reading, and please post any comments or suggestions or you can e-mail them! Click on the ‘Contact Me’ page to check out my e-mail.
Thank You,

Hoi,
Haha, that’s hi in Dutch.
I jut updated the New Moon page with two new videos: the first and second New Moon official trailers! There was the first trailer posted before, but it was removed on Youtube due to terms of use. So I updated it with another trailer that is still the same, but was posted from another Youtube users.
I also posted two new videos in the Hilarious page! They’re called ‘Saturday Night Live – People Getting Punched’ and ‘iGun Traffic Rampage’! In my opinion, it’s very funny.
So check all the four videos and please comment! But just to let you know, all the videos that are on this blog are NOT mine. I just get them from YouTube.
But again, I’ve posted up four new videos: two on the Hilarious page and two on the New Moon page.
Click here to go to the New Moon page, and/or click here to go straight to the Comedy Central page.
Thanks for reading!
Salem,

I bought an iTunes Gift Card yesterday with $25 in it and thought I would share some songs and apps I bought for my iPhone. But this goes to alexd37 for giving me the idea or ‘inspiring’ me to write this post, as she did with her blog. Here are some songs I bought:
1. Good Girls Go Bad by Cobra Starship (featuring Leighton Meester)
2. No Surprise by Chris Daughtry
3. Bottom of the Ocean by Miley Cyrus
4. Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus
5. 21 Guns by Green Day
6. They Don’t Care About Us by Michael Jackson
7. She Wolf by Shakira
Those were some songs I bought with my iTunes Gift Card. Now here’s five applications I bought with my gift card:
1. Doodle Jump (Created by Lima Sky)
2. Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D (Created by Vivendi Games Mobile)
3. Mini Gory (Created by Chillingo Ltd.)

And those were the five apps I bought! Now I have $2.18 left from my gift card.
